Big School-Break (or Big Break translit. Bolshaya Peremena, Russian: Большая перемена) is a Soviet 1972 TV miniseries in 4 episodes. USA screen name - The Long Recess. Loosely based on a novel "Walk towards people" by Georgi Sadovnikov.
Self-respect of Nestor Petrovich Severov is wounded by a girl, who had overtaken him in a scientific project as a scientist. He starts working at school, a school for adults, having had his spot at a post graduate program taken away by the young woman. He soon finds out that teaching adults can be very hard, especially when they aren't willing to learn. The plot progresses from there.
